Best Flight Sim

A professional, fully detailed, Real Life Flight Sim with support for over 20,000 of the worlds airports, extensive scenery packs as well as 80+ different planes from Concordes, F16s, Migs, airliners and more...This Flight Simulator software is more realistic than any other simulation software available. It has been built to be as close to real life as possible. Everything from terrain, aircraft reactions, to planetary alignments & movements.

The sun, moon, stars, and planets follow their correct courses through the sky. Night flying is also different and more highly detailed than any other simulation with headlights on major roadways. It doesn't get any closer to the real thing...If flying with perfect weather at dawn is just not a challenge anymore, why not add another dimension and watch you plane soar through gail's, wind, rain snow and even lightning. You have the control to pick this, or for added realism why not use real life data.

Flight Pro Sim will calculate your nearest airport and fetch the current METAR for that station from the NOAA weather service. The atmosphere parameters calculated are: temperature, dew point, pressure density, wind (three dimensional) and visibility The added bonus is that this simulator is based on Open GL graphics rendering. So this program can really do just about anything and make it look realistic.

It is one of the first flight sims to give you full control. This means you can dig deeper into the game and create your own graphics including: terrain, create airports, and airplanes.

It even allows you to reprogram your flight controls and control response. The graphics features are virtually as limited as your imagination.Did you ever want to fly a plane yourself, but lacked the money or ability to do so? Are you a real pilot looking to improve your skills without having to take off?

Do you want to try some dangerous maneuvers without risking your life? Or do you just want to have fun with a more serious game without any violence? If any of these questions apply then this flight simulator is perfect for you

How To Tune Your Giutar

The most common way of tuning a guitar, is to itself. To do this you tune all your strings from the bottom (thickest) string up to the top string (thinnest). To do this you press down on the fifth fret and try and tune the A string (second thickest) so that is sound perfectly in tune with the bottom string with the fifth fret pushed down.

Tuning figure 1

Repeat this process to all the strings except for the B string (second thinnest) which you press down on the forth fret on the G string (third thinnest) to tune.

Tuning figure 2

The electronic tuner is probably the easiest and most effective way of tuning your guitar to correct pitch. With an electronic tuner you can get a very accurate tuning because it actually measures the sound wave frequency of your strings. Take your tuner and pluck each string individually until each string is perfectly in tune. Remember a guitar is tuned from top to bottom eBGDAE.

You can try tuning your guitar to another guitar. For this method take the guitar that is in tune and try and tune each string on you guitar so that you can hear that each string vibrates in tune with the other.

Regardless of whether you set out to learn a few simple chords, or if you just want to be the next biggest thing to grace the music world. When you pick up an instrument you are going to have to practice if you are to have any hope of getting better.

Try all these methods to tune your guitar to see which one works best for you.

Tuning a 12 String
Even though it may look like a big challenge, ‘standard’ tuning a 12-string guitar is actually quite easy. For the bottom four strings (four thickest) you will tune each pair of strings to the same note but the thinner one will be tuned an octave higher. An octave is two notes that are the same but at a different pitch. The top two strings (two thinnest) have both strings tuned to the same not at the same pitch so they sound exactly the same.

Sounds simple? In theory it is, however when strings are tuned in octaves it is easy to hear slight mistunings. For this reason it is important to tune your strings perfectly when you are tuning a 12-string. Also sometimes you may have a problem keeping some of the strings in tune as the some of the smaller strings are tuned quite tightly. For this reason I think it can be a good idea to get the best quality strings you can when stringing up a 12-string. Ask your local dealer about strings, hopefully they can help you out.

3 Ways to Improve Recording Quality

During the past 6 years, we have seen the advent of very powerful and yet relatively inexpensive music production software programs like Logic, Reason, Cubase and FruityLoops. Social networking sites like Myspace Music, ReverbNation, Beatport, Taxi, Airplay Direct - goodness, there are many more - allow today's musicians and artists to compete on their own for the first time ever. We keep hearing that the playing field has been leveled, but has it really? How can you get a big studio-quality recording without spending big-studio type money?

Here are three industry techniques that should get you on the right track:

1. Know Your Dynamics: In so many words, befriend your compressor. There is really no right or wrong way to use compression, especially because the compressor has so many creative possibilities. Masterful control of dynamics is, in my opinion, the difference between the pros and everyone else. You can apply compression as an effect - a concept you will probably discover simply through tinkering - however it is usually used to even out, lift and control the sound. To achieve a clean and even sound, open your compressor and watch it work on your waveform or MIDI design. Most compressors show the gain reduction in realtime and it's a good place to start. If the gain reduction meter never goes away, that means the compressor is always "on" - if that's the case, set the threshold closer to 0. For example, if you have a rhythm guitar track, the compressor should "attack" as the guitar strums and "release" before the next strum (be sure to set the attack and release times accordingly). The compressor should "breathe" in time with the instrument. Once you have the foundation, feel free to play around to get the sound you want (the "compare" feature in Logic is so nice for this!)

2. Monitor Input Quality: The Output is the sum of all Inputs. This is true of just about anything you do. This seems to be obvious, but many people will record without paying any attention to the quality of the sound produced and then try to cover the bad sound with effects. Unfortunately, a bad sound is a bad sound no matter how much compression, distortion or reverb you lay over it. Do a few sound quality tests before recording and constantly check levels (they should be set as high as possible while avoiding clipping) and sound quality during recording. Then solo the playback and judge sound quality - if you don't have studio monitors, listen with headphones. Let's say you aren't pleased, for example, with your microphone recording. Try adjusting "room acoustics" (Google that word for some great tips) or changing your recording location - Some rooms are not conducive to recording. I once layered my entire bathroom with pillows, sheets, comforters and bedfoam in order to get the acoustics we wanted.

3. Layer Sounds: Just about every recording we hear on the radio, online or anywhere for that matter, exhibits some form of sound layering - which can produce some very powerful results. We almost always hear layering of vocals during a song's chorus. When layering vocals, be sure to have a strong dry signal (the first good take) pumped into the singer's headphones and make sure they sing it exactly as they did the first time - copying and pasting the original take will NOT produce desired effect. Then pan each track 75% L and 75% R, respectively and Voila! You can even try layering harmony tracks - so awesome. Same goes for guitar tracks (always rhythm guitar), synth leads, and anything else that needs a thicker sound. Want more authority in your basslines? Try layering 2-3 similar bass sounds (each one featuring a different frequency range). The possibilities are endless!

That's all the time for today -- keep an eye out for more techniques in the near future. Remember that music is constantly changing. Always pay attention to the technical make up of the songs you like. Listen for new production techniques and ask yourself "what is it that I like about this track?" Break it down into individual parts and practice re-producing what you hear in your own voice and style. Don't hesitate to email me if you have questions!

Good luck and have fun!

Safe Guitar - Easy Tips For Keeping Your Guitar Safe and Undamaged

The moment that you own your first guitar or a new one, you realize you have a large responsibility to keep this thing safe and sound. Face it. This new axe is constantly in danger of being smashed, dropped, scuffed, crushed, or even stolen.

But, a lot of what happens are very fundamental things that can be easily prevented if you only pay attention. Look over this short list of extremely simple things that you can do to keep your guitar safer.

1. Keep it in the case when you're not using it

It's very simple, but some guitarists just forget where the guitar's home is and let it roam around too often. You bought that sturdy hard-shell case for a reason, so keep your guitar safe in there when you're not playing it.

2. Don't lean it upright against walls and posts

There's a saying I have that goes, "If you lay something flat, there's no chance of it falling over." So, if you're leaning your guitar up against posts, railings, or walls, that sounds like trouble to me.

Save yourself some grief and lay your instrument down if you can't possibly put it in its case.

3. Let it ride in the back seat like a friend and not in the trunk like a hostage

Now, I understand that you have to pack the van up and you have lots of equipment to take to a show, but if you have the room, your guitar deserves better than the trunk. With your guitar in the back seat, you can still see it and realize how your driving ability may be affecting it.

4. Put your guitar on a stand when it's on stage

Let's say you're in a band and you're getting ready for a gig. You set everything up, test out the amp, and then walk off the stage.

If you're leaving your guitar up there, you don't want it leaning up against your amp or poles. Bring a guitar stand onto the stage or put it back in the case so you can prevent a catastrophe right before your set.

5. Lock that thing up

You wouldn't believe some of the things that get stolen at a rock show and sometimes it isn't even the guitar! They might open up your case and fish for strings, capos, or any other small components to your instrument.

Keep your guitar safe and sound by locking it up with all of its pieces.

6. Don't let that thing out of your sight

This should really go without saying. If you're done with your set, you should be packing up your own instrument before you help with anyone else's equipment.

Wouldn't it make you feel better knowing that your guitar is safe in your vehicle before you start working the crowd again?

There really isn't too much to keeping your guitar safe, but so much is overlooked and taken for granted. It can be a cruel world with thieves and Newton's law of relativity, but with some common sense and responsibility, your guitar can last for a few more years.

Kyle Hoffman is an experienced guitarist of 8 years that loves to play as a hobby and perform live on stage. If you're looking for a solid foundation and valuable tips to playing guitar the RIGHT way, visit How To Guitar Play as part of Kyle's popular guitar blog, How To Guitar Tune.

Good Music on the Billboard 200 Album Charts in October of 2009

I have a sick obsession with the Billboard album charts. I find it fascinating the awful music that people like. The Billboard 200 as of this writing is filled with absolute junk like Michael Buble, Miley Cyrus, Black Eyed Peas, Taylor Swift, and Mariah Carey.

But there is still good music being made and it does sell (although not in the same quantities as the American Idol nonsense or the Oprah approved Michael Buble type "put you to sleep" stuff.)

What follows are five albums that are among the top 200 albums in the US this week that are actually worth taking a listen to.

Twilight: New Moon Soundtrack (#2)

This may seem like a strange pick considering the rant I just went on, but this soundtrack is actually filled with quality artists/bands and unlike most soundtracks like this, all of the songs are unique to the soundtrack. Among those included are Radiohead's Thom Yorke, Death Cab for Cutie, Muse, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Grizzly Bear, and Editors.

The Flaming Lips - Embryonic (#8)

This is an excellent experimental rock album and it's wonderful thing that an album this weird, this "difficult" can make it into the top 10. If you were put off by At War with the Mystics (and I was) don't let that dissuade you from checking this new album out because it's an entirely new direction. This is the most "out there" thing the band has done since Zaireeka.

The Avett Brothers - I and Love and You (#54)

This is the major label debut for this really great band. It's nice to see that real music like this can still gain an audience in this sea of crappy music. It has peaked at #16 thus far. I recommend checking out their past albums too, they are excellent. I'm a particularly big fan of Emotionalism (2007.)

The Beatles Stereo Box Set (#92)

OK, this isn't exactly an "album" it's a box set including every album The Beatles released from 1962 through 1970 (and the Past Masters compilation which includes the non album tracks.) It's 16 CDs in all. It has peaked at #15 thus far which is really incredible when you consider how expensive it is and and that it's essentially The Beatles entire catalog (although there's still Live at the BBC and The Anthologies and a few other odds & ends.)

The Mountain Goats - Life of the World to Come (#189)

It debuted at #110 last week. Obviously this isn't high enough to be on the radar in the mainstream world, but The Mountain Goats have a small but dedicated following and I bet more people will be listening to The Mountain Goats in 2050 than they are listening to Taylor Swift (or whoever.) Not that I'm guaranteeing they'll have a big following that far into the future, just to compare it to how disposable the pop music of today is.

The Beatles Mono Box Set is back in stock.
