Windows Defender Update Or Outdated? Microsoft Security Essentials

Windows defender was Microsoft's first attempt at trying to secure the Windows operating system. It was a fairly good free program that was designed to help against spyware and adware that can plague window's users if they aren't careful when surfing the internet.

Windows defender did a good job as what it was designed for, but it was only a partial solution. It didn't not protect at all against the more malicious programs such as trojans and worms. Since almost half of windows users have no protection against these things and they are meant to spread quickly, windows defender was defenseless against these serious threats.

Windows defender has been updated or more appropriately has been outdated by a new software called Microsoft Security Essentials. This is a security program that has the same features that windows defender had except it also has protection against worms, viruses, and trojans. It is a free program to help windows users get the protection they need. At this point in time it's outright negligence for someone to leave their computer unprotected.

What is Microsoft Security Essentials missing?

It doesn't have firewall protection. There is built in firewall protection in windows itself and it's a good idea to use a firewall on the router as well.

It's also missing a way of repairing the registry. The windows registry is notorious for being coming corrupted and full of errors. As these errors increase so do the chances of freeze ups, computer glitches, and slower speeds. Get a registry cleaner software to run a scan on your computer and fix any errors within the window's registry.
